During these difficult pandemic years, Amanda has led our district with kindness, skill, and integrity. Her even temper and deep intelligence, combined with her love of learning, and passion for science and the arts in education have compelled Amanda to seek ways to make Canyons the best possible learning environment for our Draper students.

As an experienced leader, and someone who has spent thousands hours in meetings, doing her own research, and drawing on her background in the law, Amanda has tackled difficult issues with patience and deep understanding. Amanda is always willing to listen, and she carefully considers critical feedback and all sides of an issue. She is willing to make hard decisions, and lean into difficult and yet incredibly important dialogue.
Experienced and Patient
Amanda is also a staunch voice for our schools during the legislative session, fighting for funding, better pay for teachers, and smaller class sizes. Amanda was an active participant in the conversations around the development at The Point, working determinedly to reserve land for schools and to create new partnerships and opportunities with the tech community to build internships and hands on experiences for our children.
During Amanda’s tenure on the Canyons School Board, multiple Draper schools have climbed in the ranks to be in the top five statewide. We have seen our teachers honored for their excellence in education, winning scholarships to attend NASA trainings and UT Biology teacher of the year, among others. Our students have consistently been Sterling Scholars, won top awards at the Shakespeare Festival, taken top prizes in speech and debate, and risen to the top in athletics across the board. Our students and our schools are thriving, and we are so fortunate to have those who work so very hard to create these amazing places of learning for our children.
